The Many Hands Project Reveal day was held on April 16, 2016 at The Hope Centre in Welland. Students from the Event Management and Renovation Technician programs, representatives of Niagara College, The Hope Centre, Welland City council members, and partners of the project including Champion of Hope partner, Canadian Tire were all in attendance to reveal the new soup kitchen and dining area.
As of April 16, 2016 Niagara College has completed their portion of the renovations to The Hope Centre. Students of the construction program demolished the old medical offices, installed new doors, framed, insulated and drywalled new walls, installed new ceilings, installed new flooring in the food bank and painted the new space. From here The Hope Centre will continue renovations to finish the space and have an expected opening date in late May.
At the Project Reveal Day, the Many Hands Project announced that the 19th annual project has raised over $44,000 this year through the combination of the 4 fundraising events (Messy Hands for Many Hands, Bet On It Trivia, Many Hands Market, and We Got Soul), sponsorship and donations. Additional funds that were not used to pay for construction and renovations will be donated to The Hope Centre’s food bank in monthly instalments. $500 worth of food supplies for the food bank will be donated each month for one year!
Thank you to all of our partners and supporters for making this year’s Many Hands Project such a HUGE success! It is with your generosity and continued support that the Many Hands Project has been able to help 19 local non profit organizations since 1998. The Many Hands project is excited to be entering its 20th year this September and looks forward to all future projects and events within the community.
