The Lincoln County Branch of St. John Ambulance has been chosen as the recipient of the 15th annual Niagara College Many Hands Project renovation. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2012 and reach completion in April 2012.
The Lincoln County Branch of St. John Ambulance is a vital organization in our community serving 11 municipalities in the Niagara Region from St. Catharines, Welland and Fort Erie to Grimsby. Its volunteers and very minimal staff host and teach first aid classes as well as participate in and offer first aid services for a variety of community events which include: sports events, festivals, concerts and community gatherings. In addition, St. John Ambulance knows that many people can benefit physically and emotionally from regular contact with the unconditional love of a dog. Therapy Dogs are trained to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, with people with learning difficulties and stressful situations. St. John Ambulance also promotes its Youth Services Program which is a structured health-oriented program for youth aged 6 to 18 that provides young people with opportunities for social, educational and personal development, through training, community service opportunities, leisure activities, and participation at special events. Through each of the programs offered at the Lincoln County Branch of St. John Ambulance, over 34,000 hours of service were contributed to the community in 2010 alone.
The Many Hands Project will focus the renovations on improving accessibility to the St. John Ambulance building, and making the space more useful, functional and up to safety standards for the training courses that are offered. Additional renovations will include drywall installation, floor replacement and storage construction.
Below are some current photos of St. John Ambulance. We will be updating the photos throughout the project and hope you check back often to see our progress!
